Strategic Buyer Direct Materials

The Client: Our Client is a large international industrial player (undisclosed), in the North of Italy.

 

Within the company, Procurement represents a Strategic Global Function under the leadership of the Group CPO, who is successfully driving a relevant transformation and value generation journey.

The Procurement function has been progressively shaped to be a “best in class” contributor to this journey, with a solid governance, a clear strategy, and distinctive skills to support continued company growth and future acquisitions.

In this context, a new Strategic Buyer is now needed: an A-player, who can bring across fresh energies and skills to strengthen the Indirect Procurement team even further.

The Role:

The Strategic Buyer will report to the Global Commodity Manager Direct Materials and will take responsibility for the Direct Materials Category.

He/she will be in charge of 1) implementing and optimizing commodity strategy, 2) contributing to initiate breakthrough Commodity Programs and Policies across the supply base, to ensure optimum TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), on top of quality, delivery, sustainability, and innovation, and, last but not least, 3) play a key role in the transformation of a Procurement team with the ambition to be the Best in Class.

 

Position – Specific Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to manage the procurement of the commodity at Group Level, supporting the commodity strategy deployment with a specific focus in the sourcing execution.
  • Foster long-term partnerships with suppliers, acting as their focal point for supplier visits, business reviews, negotiations, and quality management.
  • Maintain effective relationships and communication with internal key stakeholders in all functions.
  • Prepare and conduct negotiations with suppliers regarding commercial terms, payment conditions and delivery terms in collaboration with the Global Commodity Manager.
  • Prepare and analyse performance, risk, and sustainability reports for business meetings.
  • Conduct comparative analysis about supplier’s capabilities and cost drivers to gain insights and improve spending efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support the execution and tracking of innovation and sustainability projects in line with our business and ESG targets.

Requirements and Key skills include:

  • Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • About 3-5 years of experiencein a similar role within an industrial setting, ideally within complex multinational organizations recognized as best in class
  • Passion and interest for the Procurement area.
  • Negotiation and cost-benefit analysis skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, analytical approach, project management skills.
  • Drive and initiative, high energy and ability to adapt to changing environments.
  • Eagerness to work in a team and to cooperate across departments in an international environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Full proficiency in spoken and written Italian and English.

The role will be located in North of Italy.
