The Client:

Our Client is a young company backed by 2 VC Funds, born to fill a gap in providing B2C mental wellbeing services, in Italy. In only few years since 2020 they have been able to become the Italian leader, boosting their activity in Italy and starting expanding their reach abroad. From a start up, they have transitioned to a scale up.

Positive since their inception, in 2024 they will surpass by far the turnover of 2023 (80M€); sustained by over 6000 therapists with 70.000+ annual visits, they now need to provide structure to sustain their growth further.

Position – The role:

In this context, they are now seeking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a new strategic role that aims at 1) building a modern finance function, 2) being the strategic partner to the Executive Team and a sparring partner to all functions, 3) guide the international expansion shaping it around solid analytics and performance judgment.

The finance team is now built around a solid controlling culture, with a team of 10.

 

Position – Specific responsibilities:

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Lead financial planning and analysis activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and international financial standards.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support growth and long-term goals for the Company

Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cash flow, investment, and financial risk management activities.
  • Ensure effective internal controls are in place to safeguard the company’s assets.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, promoting a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and excellence
  • Collaborate with other C-levels to align financial goals with business strategy.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure financial alignment with business objectives, fostering a collaborative environment among remote teams in different locations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with investors, venture capitalists, and financial institutions
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to the executive team and board of directors.

Regulatory Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and standards.
  • Oversee tax strategy and planning to optimize tax efficiency and compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Economics | finance | accounting; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience as CFO or Finance Director leadership role, preferably in an international setting with a fast-growing technology company, or (fast) growing company operating in the service space

 

Key skills include:

Finance skills:

  • Robust knowledge of Finance: accounting and statutory, controlling, treasury and tax
  • Business intelligence and analytics: strategic planning, balance sheet, income statement, cash flow
  • Analytically strong – full control of business KPIs, with ability to develop insights on Business/Market(s)/Operations;
  • Has constructive relationships within financial institutions and can secure capital for developing projects further
  • Skilled in financial sfw and tools implementation
  • International and Italian Accounting Standards

Leadership skills:

  • Mature hands-on communicator, upwards and downwards: can influence the audience and articulate reasons in front of the Executive team and can involve people at all levels across the goal to support growth while (re)shaping finance. Will engage people with the energy, while providing guidance and clear focus on key priorities. Acts entrepreneurial, with strong sense of ownership, willing to work across common goals,
  • Collaborative problem solver, with proven ability to work across boundaries with all functions: HR, Operations, Marketing, to drive results with “can do mind-set”
  • Can decidein autonomy yet not in isolation and comes across to the Executive Team with solutions and proposals
  • Proven ability to work effectively with remote teams and manage financial operations in multiple locations.

Languages: Full proficiency in spoken and written Italian and English is a must.
